If you want to, you are welcome every week. If there are many questions or symptoms, we advise you to make an extra, separate appointment.
Prenatal screening
During the intake we discuss the possibility of prenatal screening. You can have your unborn child examined for a number of abnormalities and conditions. For example, there is the option of prenatal screening for Down, Edwards' and Patau syndrome and the structural ultrasound scan / anomaly scan (SEO in Dutch). The aim of prenatal screening is to inform pregnant women, who wish to do so, in due time about the possible presence of one or more disorders, so that they can choose from various treatment options. You can opt for different forms of prenatal screening:
Screening for Down, Edwards' and Patau syndrome with the NIPT. The NIPT (non-invasive prenatal test) is a blood test. This allows you to have your blood tested for indications that your child has Down, Edwards' or Patau syndrome. You can have the NIPT performed from 11 weeks of pregnancy.
A structural ultrasound scan ) (SEO in Dutch) at 13 and/or 20 weeks, also referred to as the 13 and 20 week ultrasound. During this ultrasound, the baby's physical structures are examined in order to detect any abnormalities in time. For more information, see: 13 weeks ultrasound and 20 weeks ultrasound.
