Who we are 

We are the Verloskundigenpraktijk Oostelijke Eilanden, the most experienced midwifery practice in Amsterdam-Oost! We are situated on the border of Amsterdam Centrum, Zeeburg and Oost. As of the year 1999 we have formed a close-knit, energetic and professional team. Our the aim is to do everything we can to help a woman, in the way she wants, to bring a child in the world, in good health and full of confidence. A pleasant pregnancy and a good childbirth will form the foundation of parenting based on trust. Standing at that cradle, that's why we do it.

Our care

Our care consists of monitoring and supervising an uncomplicated pregnancy, childbirth and maternity week, with an emphasis on mutual trust and personal wishes. Down-to-earth, but also with humour, evidence-based obstetrics, with an involvement  from a professional and personal point of view. Some of the characteristics that typify our practice and ensure that years after giving birth, women still tell us that they look back on their pregnancy, delivery and maternity period with such a good feeling. We are always looking for ways to optimize our care, whether that concerns coordination with the pregnant woman, the application of new knowledge and techniques or the continuity of maternity visits. Tell us your wishes: pregnancy guidance by the entire team or by one or two faces? Giving birth at home or in the hospital, with or without pain relief, in bed, bath or on the birthing stool? We can talk about everything!

Affiliation

We are affiliated with the KNOV (Koninklijke Nederlandse Organisatie van Verloskundigen - Royal Dutch Organization of Midwives). To guarantee our quality, we are registered in the KNOV quality register, which is an official quality mark with which we demonstrate that we adhere to the guidelines and standards of the KNOV. Regular participation in expertise-enhancing activities is part of the quality register, in that way we work according to current guidelines. In addition, we regularly consult with hospitals in the region about, for instance, new protocols and case discussion.

With the OLVG Oost and six other midwifery practices in Amsterdam Oost, we form the VSV: Verloskundig Samenwerkings Verband. The VSV stands for a strong knowledge network, pleasant cooperation and continuity of care. In the Echopunt, in which we participate, we offer ultrasound scans.

Verloskundigenpraktijk Oostelijke Eilanden has an affiliation  with all hospitals in Amsterdam and if necessary we can divert to the Amstelland hospital in Amstelveen. City-wide we are part of the EVAA and we are organized within the care group Amsterdam for improving the quality of care, unambiguous regional policy and uniformity in our working method.
